+Is the Concert Free?

The Concert is free and open to the public!

+Do I have to play Piccolo?

No!  Although it is called Piccolo Christmas that is only because it sounds better than Mass Flute Choir Christmas.  There will be one song on the program where everyone who has a piccolo can play it together for a mass piccolo ensemble.  The rest of the pieces will have the full spectrum of the flute family.

+Is this only open to certain ages?

Everyone is invited to perform regardless of age!  Children who may need a little extra TLC should be accompanied by a parent or teacher.

+Is there parking at the event site?

There is a parking garage attached to the library with free parking on weekends and ample parking in the surrounding downtown Akron area.

+Does it cost money to perform?

It does not cost money to perform.  If you would like a commemorative button you will need to purchase it at the event.

+Do I have to stay on the same part the entire time?

You do not need to play the same part the entire time.  Folders will be made by part.  So, If you would like more than one part let the registration table know, and please put all of the parts back in the correct folder.  Or you could get the music situated beforehand on your own with the digital versions of the music.

+ Do I have to play the flute at a certain level to perform with the group?

Performers of all levels are encouraged to participate.  Whether you can only play a few notes or you are a full on professional, play what you can and leave out what you can't.  Most importantly of all HAVE FUN and SPREAD JOY!

+ Do I need to bring music?

There will be digitized versions of the music for you to practice beforehand.  You can print those out or bring them on a tablet.  There will also be music printed in folders the day of the concert for you if you need it.

+ Do I need to bring a stand?

Please bring your own stand!

+ Should I dress up, decorate my flute or my stand?

Feel free to decorate yourself, your instrument or your stand to help spread Christmas cheer!  Wear your favorite Christmas clothes.  Concert attire is whatever Christmas oriented outfit you want to wear.

+Can I play non-standard or world flutes?

All flutes are welcome.  Music will only be provided for traditional flute choir instruments (i.e. piccolo, concert flute, Bass/Contrabass flute in C and Alto Flutes in G).  If you need to transpose/edit you part to make it work with the mass choir arrangement, feel free to do so on your own.

+Do I have to preregister?

In order to have access to the music beforehand, to make sure we set up enough chairs, and to make sure that we make enough buttons for everyone in attendance, it is important that we know who will be performing.  So, it is incredibly helpful to preregister.  However, if you decide last minute to perform please feel free - We Will Make it Work!

+Can I bring an entire school group or studio?

Absolutely!  If you need special accommodations or seat reservations please email AkronPiccoloChristmas@gmail.com with your needs.

+How does lunch work?

Lunch is on your own in the Downtown Akron area.  There will be a 2 hour break for everyone to explore on their own.
