The Piccolo

The Flute
The standard concert flute plays in the key of C and is a standard member of the Band and Orchestra world. It can also be found in many other mediums. The flute has a rich bottom register a pure middle register and a brilliant high register. To hear the sound of the flute click here.
The Alto Flute
The Alto Flute is the lower sibling of the concert flute, playing in the key of G below that of the standard concert flute. I has a rich velvety low register and a thin etherial middle and high register. The headjoint of the alto flute regularly comes in straight and curved varieties. The Bass Flute
The Bass flute is the lowest of the standard flutes. It, as the name implies, usually plays the bass part in a standard flute choir. It has s thick and reedy sound like that of a a string bass of low register bassoon. To hear the sound of the bass flute click here.
The Contra Flutes
